The story
Madinah,
Rabi' al-Awwal, 11 AH.
June 632. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) had passed away, and Arabia was turning away.
Tribes refuse the zakat. Others follow men who claim prophethood: Tulayha of Banu Asad, Sajah of Tamim, and Musaylima of Banu Hanifa. In Madinah, Abu Bakr sends out eleven banners.
One of them goes to Khalid ibn al-Walid, the man called Sayf Allah, the Sword of God. You ride with it.
Khalid's campaign: from the passes of Madinah to Buzakha, al-Butah and al-Yamama, as al-Tabari's History tells it.

The experience
Prepare. Ride. Command.
A single-player journey built around the road ahead and the company beside you.
Strike, guard,
and read the moment.
Chain up to four strikes, with the last landing hardest. A heavy blow breaks a raised guard. Watch for the gold diamond, parry on time, and your next strike lands twice as hard.
SWORD COMBATSingle combat.
A call to yield.
Issue a challenge and fight one-on-one while the lines stand off. When the enemy's resolve breaks, call on them to yield. Beaten men are disarmed, and they surrender.
DUELS & SURRENDERHorse, camel,
and the bow.
Fetch your horse from the stable on Madinah's northern road and call it to you from anywhere. Walk, gallop, or let it ride on. Cut from the saddle, or take up the bow.
HORSEBACK & ARCHERYGive the order.
Hold the line.
Three soldiers ride as your escort. In the great battles, take command of whole companies: advance, charge, hold, fall back, or rally the men to the banner while their archers loose volleys.
COMPANY COMMANDSWater, dates,
and silver.
Fill your waterskin at the wells and carry dates for the road. Earn silver dirhams from missions and side quests, and spend them with traders on a coat of mail, an Indian blade or a larger skin.
SUPPLIES & TRADEFive calls
to prayer.
Five adhans sound each day. Pray after the call, or at any mosque, to restore your resolve and your water. The day turns in about 36 minutes, with haze and sandstorms on the road.
